Maternity & Newborn Package Sessions
July 2019 & Nov 2019
Okay so we're a little obsessed with weddings and engagements, BUT we still adore shooting with families for maternity and newborn sessions! Who can resist cute baby toes and adorable soft accessories? Not us.
I wanted to create a blog post to highlight one of our favorite maternity and newborn bundle sessions to give all the mamas and papas a chance to check out what you can expect when you book this 2-in-1 package.
Anita came to us through our favourite local yoga studio, Unfold. (Unfold Yoga OC is Orange County's ONLY prenatal and postnatal yoga studio. They're a super rad support community for pregnancy, birth, and beyond! We seriously cannot recommend them enough. Click here for a little intro to what they do.)
She chose a beach in Laguna for her maternity session with her husband and we shot in the evening to get some beautiful soft light on that belly! We gave them super minimal direction and just let them interact with each other and it turned out totally gorgeous.
When it comes to newborn sessions, we stick to lifestyle. We do in-home newborn sessions with minimal posing; just documentation. If you're looking for some Anne-Geddes-baby-in-a-bumblebee-costume type stuff let me know and I'll find you a referral for your ideal photographer because it's not us, and that's okay!
My favourite part about lifestyle sessions is getting to include parents in the shots. Maybe you don't love having your photo taken to begin with (we promise to do our best to make it fun!) but one day your kid is going to look back on that moment and be grateful you're there with them. We even planned Anita's newborn session during a time we knew her mom and dad would be visiting from India.
You may notice these first time parents decided to wait a few months after their son was born to do the session. We're here for it! Parents of newborns have needs too and being accommodating is at the very tip top of our priority list. We always carve out a couple hours in our day for these sessions because babies are so unpredictable. Maybe it only takes an hour because baby is in an amazing mood and super sleepy and the session is a total dream. But we anticipate breaks, and feedings, and TIME.
